Grofers ‘online supermarket company is looking to recruit 5,000 employees to improve its capacity to accommodate the surge in orders during the national lockdown.
The business has also collaborated with resident welfare associations (RWAs) of more than 100 metro-wide societies to make critical materials accessible to a greater number of people amid the 21-day lockdown implemented to contain COVID-19 spread.
Outlining the steps the company has taken over the last three weeks, Albinder Dhindsa, its co-founder
and CEO said the Grofers app is seeing over 1.5 million people trying to order daily.
“Over 1.5 million people are trying to order every day in our app. Despite the limitations on how many people we can cater for, today we can only serve 1 out of 8 customers … (we) are working to add more resources to make this work for more users,” he said in the company blog of 7 April.
