Sensex opens 173 points higher, Nifty tests 10,800

New Delhi: Fifth day in a row, domestic stock markets opened higher. The S&P BSE Sensex opened at 36,660 173 points or 0.47% higher, while the larger NSE Nifty50 opened at 10,802 above the 10,800 mark, up 0.4%. On Tuesday most sector indices opened flat. A total of 24 companies are due to announce their earnings for the March quarter today.

The FMCG, with I.T. The index increased by 0.4 percent each, while the Nifty Bank and Nifty Pharma decreased by 0.2 per cent each. Broader markets ended up flat too. The Nifty Midcap opened up 0.2% higher while the Smallcap index increased 0.5%. The Sensex was up 63.67 points at 36550.95 at 09:16 am, and the Nifty was up at 10,777 at 13.30 points. About 595 shares advanced, 448 shares declined, and 71 shares remained unchanged.
