114-year-old Ethiopian monk won the fight against COVID-19 after 3 weeks of treatment

Since around 10 months now, the novel coronavirus has taken over the world after it was learned about in Wuhan , China. But then the lethal virus hasn’t gone anywhere. The cases reached the one crore mark worldwide, and the number of deaths surpassed five lakh.

Currently COVID-19 is nowhere close to end. Many countries that had battled the virus ably have now again seen an spike in cases. They also restarted their lives in a phased way, realizing well that for a prolonged period of time the planet would have to deal with the virus.

Although the bad news has already dominated our minds, news has also come out of miracle recoveries. This makes the world think that there might just be a silver lining somewhere.

Another such instance has come from Ethiopia. A monk named Tilahun Woldemichael came out victorious from the 3-week long battle against COVID-19. He is said to be 114-years-old. He was discharged from the hospital on Thursday, June 25.

For his recovery, he had received doses of Oxygen and Dexamethasone, a widely available steroid that has said to reduce up to one-third of deaths among hospitalized patients for the virus.

As far as his age is concerned, his family believes that he is around 114-years- old. His grandson said that although there is no birth certificate, there is a photo of him on his 100th birthday.

Emotional at the reunion of their grandfather with his family, he said, “ I am so happy that we are together again.”

It takes nothing but determination and strong willpower to be able to fight through a tough time and come back strong and ready to take on life again.
