Kalyanasundaram: Man of the Millennium

by the owl speaks

Inspired by his mother in helping the poor, Kalyanasundaram, 73, has been acclaimed as India’s ‘Best Librarian.’ He voluntarily donated his salary to charity each month during his 35-year career at Kumarkurupara
Arts College, in Tamil Nadu, and to fulfill his everyday needs, he did odd jobs.
Even after his retirement, he began working as a waiter to survive and to continue donating to the shelters and children’s education funds. To him, the power of earning money feels more satisfying when donated to the poor and the underprivileged. Even today, you will find him in a small house in Saidapet, Chennai, and going to office regularly with a dedication to uplift the marginalized section of the society.
