Spelling relief for lakhs of Chartered Accountancy (CA) aspirants, the Indian Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAI) said on Monday that the July-August exams were cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The ICAI had told the Supreme Court that it might begin conducting examinations in November 2020.
The Supreme Court said students can opt out of their July exams during the last week of June without running the risk of being classified as having failed in the papers they skipped due to the pandemic.
It was expected that as many as 3.46 lakh students would take the exams scheduled for July 29 to August 16. Of these, 2.89 lakh have opted in and 52,000 have opted in.
