According to news agency PTI, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) released an advisory on Monday for passengers to travel on a special train from Bhubaneswar on May 13, asking them to bring their own linen and food and to arrive at the city station at least 90 minutes before departure for health screening.
The train will leave the Bhubaneswar railway station at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, with all AC coaches, and finish in New Delhi, the article said, citing an official from the ECoR.
“At payment within the train, only restricted food and packaged drinking water will be available and passengers are advised to bring their own food,” the official said, adding that the linen will not be provided.
The tickets for the special train were sold out in 30 minutes, the official said after the railway started booking online via the IRCTC website.
Online ticket cancellation will be permitted up to 24 hours before the train’s scheduled departure, but the cancellation charge will be 50 per cent of the fare.
The railway said passengers are only allowed into the platform with verified tickets.
“All passengers will need to clear medical screening before they are allowed to board the train. Only asymptomatic passengers are permitted to ride,” it said.
The Railways has announced that a small number of passenger services will be resumed after a nearly 50-day suspension due to a continuing lockdown.
