New Delhi: On Saturday (1 August) President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended their greetings for Eid al-Adha.
President Kovind said this festival symbolizes the spirit of love & friendship that encourages us to work for one’s wellbeing. Around the same time he also encouraged people to enjoy the occassion by maintaining social distance and following the guidelines of COVID-19.
President Kovind, taking to Twitter, said, “Eid Mubarak! Idu’l Zuha symbolizes the spirit of love and solidarity that encourages us to strive for one and all’s well-being. Let’s share our joy with the poor on this day, and obey social distancing norms and guidelines to incorporate # COVID19 spread.
In writing, PM Modi extended his warm wish, “Eid Mubarak! Greetings to Eid al-Adha. May this day encourage us to create a just, equitable and harmonious community. Can we further the spirit of brotherhood and compassion: PM Narendra Modi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also wrote to PM Sheik Hasina in Bangladesh on Friday sending greetings on Eid ul Adha and assuring support for the country’s health sector in the midst of a COVID-19 pandemic.
His greetings to Bangladesh PM read, “We hope this festival will further strengthen the spirit of peace and tolerance in our respective societies and foster fraternal ties between our two countries.”
Bakr Eid or Eid-al-Adha is called the’festival of sacrifice’and it is considered to be the second of the two most important Islamic holidays celebrated worldwide each year.
