Manipur-born international boxer Ngangom Dingko Singh has recovered from COVID-19. Chief Minister N. Biren Singh welcomed the news by thanking doctors and other staff of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal, who had looked after the boxer.
The boxer had won the Asian Games gold medal held in Bangkok in 1998. He had recently been taken on a special cancer treatment flight in New Delhi and tested positive for COVID-19 upon his return by road to Imphal.
A press release issued by the State’s Additional Health Director , Dr. Khoirom Sashikumar, said on Thursday 19 people in Manipur were found to be COVID-19 positive. We checked their samples at RIMS and JNIMS, the two Manipur medical schools.
In total 1,279 people in the state have been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus. There are 663 and 616 active and recovered cases, respectively.
