Kidambi Srikanth has reached the second round of Syed Modi International Badminton Championship being played in Lucknow. He defeated Vladimir Malkov of Russia 21–12 21–11 in straight sets. The match ended in just 36 minutes. He will face compatriot P Kashyap in the second round. He received a walkover from French player Lucas Corvi in the first round.
18-year-old Lakshya Sen has also reached the next round. In the first round, he faced Thomas Rossel of France. But he withdrew from the tournament at the last minute. So the Indian shuttler got a walkover. The Indian shuttler won the Scottish Open title last month. He became the fourth Indian to do so. At the same time, Ashmita Chaliha reached the second round after defeating Vrushali Gumari 21-16, 21-16 in the women’s section. The match ended in 32 minutes.
