The Indian government’s decision a couple of days ago to ban 59 Chinese apps like TikTok prompted several social media jokes and memes. The occasion also prompted Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin to troll Australian cricketer David Warner, who had become a giant TikTok star during the COVID-19 lockdown period. After a certain section of fans hit Ashwin to target Warner, the off-spinner has now issued a clarification.
As the Indian government published a list of 59 Chinese apps, Ashwin made fun of Warner on Twitter as he wrote ‘Appo Anwar David Warner,’ which roughly translates to ‘What is David Warner going to do now?’ ‘.

A user of Twitter then commented on the post, saying to Ashwin, “You were not properly born.” The veteran India spinner replied to the Twitter user by clarifying that in Tamil, the tweet was a light-hearted joke and his admiration for Warner remains the same.
“In Tamil, it is a light-hearted banter. Because of meaning and language barrier can be too easily missed. I understand that you are a fan of @davidwarner31, my love for him is still intact, “replied Ashwin.
It’s a light hearted banter in Tamil. Can be so easily missed due to context and language barrier. I appreciate you being a @davidwarner31 fan, my respect for him is still intact. Tc
